The sustainability of San Daniele Dop

The  Consorzio of Prosciutto di San Daniele, since its creation in 1961, made excellence and sustainability  its pillars. Sustainability has in fact distinguished the whole history of the Consortium, precisely to protect and regulate the local production of prosciutto. 

What does sustainability mean for us? Respect for nature and its cycles, environmental awareness, work and relationship ethic. All these elements, which we consider the starting point of what we do, define the horizon towards which we look everyday. 

Why is Prosciutto di San Daniele Dop sustainable? 

The commitment of Consorzio del Prosciutto di San Daniele to nature and people’s health is enclosed within its model of excellence and sustainability. This model represents its ability to create value in every single moment, in the whole production process. 

Whe have conceived a kind of pattern to get there. At the center of it there are two carrier lintels, which represent the approach and the value at which the Consortium aims: 

Reliability: 

The Consortium works scrupolously and effectively and has a series of internal rules (and external control systems) capable of providing a high reliability and indipendence of all the activities. 

An innovative and renewed tradition 

The Consortium is innovative because of a high quality product, that is ehanced by a strong combination of  ancient traditions and technological advance. 

Sustainability, Prosciutto di San Daniele Dop goes from here! 

In addition to these two Northern stars, we have found four different areas of sustainability which define the responsibilities and the actions to grant the excellence of the product: 

  • Animal welfare 
  • Environmental impact 
  • Traceability of the production chain 
  • Wellness and nutrition 

In the next episodes we are going to examine in depth these four fields. We’d like you to touch with your hands the reason why the goal of letting you taste a great  San Daniele Dop necessarily goes from here. This is what  we  consider sustainability and let it never be said that we don’t think of you!
